HYDRO POWER

Hydroelectric power captures the kinetic energy of water flowing from a high reservoir to a lower one, turning it into electricity. Rain and snowfall naturally refill upper reservoirs, meaning hydro power is a renewable resource. The existing Snowy Hydro scheme produces 4,500 gigawatt hours of clean energy a year. That’s about 13% of the total amount of renewable energy produced in Australia in 2015.
