While working on stories for Country Style, Vanessa says she has discovered — and fallen in love with — a number of little-known places, such as “the sleepy town of Rydal, which has some wonderful artistic retreats, and the small community of Stokers Siding in the Northern Rivers, where my accommodation was in an old church hall”. This month, Vanessa only had to travel a couple of hours north from her home in Sydney’s inner west for our story on the Eurell family’s Copacabana beach house. “This home is stunning and the perfect retreat for those who want a blend of escapism and great design,” she says. And what’s Vanessa’s idea of the perfect escape? “Anywhere surrounded by forest and off the grid.”
