MARDI TAYLOR
OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST AND DIRECTOR OF THE OLD PRINTERY, 41 Mardi lives with her husband Hugh and three children on a farm near Wellington, NSW, and has just opened a wellness centre. What do you love about living in the country? Riding horses on weekends with my family, affordability of real estate (which makes projects like The Old Printery wellness centre possible) and connection with my community. Describe your style? As my identity is constantly evolving so is my wardrobe... I do like to follow fashion trends, but don’t let them dictate what I wear. I value labels designed and made in Australia from natural fibres. What’s your typical outfit? Every day is so different! For work days, it’s relaxed corporate style such as Viktoria and Woods black pants and a Lacausa cami with a Nique jacket. For farm days, it’s Wrangler jeans, a well-worn Country Road shirt, a felt hat, Saddler & Co belt with leather phone holder, and Ariat boots. Wardrobe essentials? Soft touch high-waisted jeans in black, white and denim, fine merino knits, silk camis, a black pencil skirt and clothes that can be easily layered. Also Spring Court sandshoes and Midas tan leather heels. Where do you love to shop? In local boutiques such as Frank and Enid, Ruby Maine and Iglou, where I feel connected to the shop owner and their products and can support their incredible effort to bring beautiful pieces within reach. What are your go-to beauty products? Aveda shampoo and conditioner, Dermalogica facial products, Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics foundation and highlighter, Ayu scented oil and Clinique Superbalm gloss in Apricot. Do you have any favourite accessories? A Helen Ficalora charm necklace, Christian Paul watch and Lovemerino scarves. Are you reading any books right now? Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World that Can’t Stop Talking by Susan Cain. How do you manage work/life balance? It simply wouldn’t be possible without support from two sets of grandparents, learning to say no without feeling guilty, and always communicating openly with my husband. Best style advice? Wear what makes you smile. Build a relationship with local shop owners and be open to them suggesting outfits they think would flatter you — trust their talents. Follow @theoldprintery on Instagram.
