BRYDIE STEWART

FIBRE ARTIST AND TEACHER, 36

- 129

When she’s not busy creating macramé for her business May Maker Studio, Brydie heads to the beach near her Kiama home with her family.

How would you describe your style? Feminine and playful. I’ll never forgo an embellishment.

Are you interested in fashion? Fashion has always been a way I could express my personality. I like to keep up with trends and lightly work them into my wardrobe.

What’s the best style advice you’ve ever received? Quality over quantity.

What are your wardrobe essentials? Crisp white shirts, long floral skirts, J Brand jeans, white sneakers, and my navy leather jacket.

What are your favourite clothing labels? Spell and the Gypsy Collective, Country Road, Little Tienda, Seed, Wilde Willow and Mister Zimi.

Do you have any favourite accessories? A Krystle Knight ‘Aura’ necklace.

What are your hair and beauty essentials? Coconut oil. It’s amazing on your skin and a great hair treatment. A’kin Rosehip Oil is incredible for hydration and Bye Bye Under Eye Brightening Eye Cream from It Cosmetics is a lifesaver for tired mums.

What do you never leave home without? My buttery soft Juju and Co bag, iphone, scarf, journal, sketch pad, L’occitane hand cream, black sunglasses and bluetooth headphones.

What are you reading? Recently I’ve spent my nights with The World is a Nice Place by Amy Molloy and Game Changers by Dave Asprey.

Where do you shop locally? Few and Far, Town and Country and Bombo Clothing all have unique pieces from around the world. Deer Willow is a beautiful homewares shop nestled between my favourite eateries — Hanoi on Manning and Wild Patch Café.

Are you a fan of wool for clothing and homewares? Absolutely. I have a growing collection of woollen throws and felted baskets in the studio. They add an element of warmth.

Who is producing excellent woollen products? Waverley Mills have collaborated with Sarah Wilson and Two Good Co. to create incredibly gorgeous throws from offcuts. With each throw you buy, they donate a second throw to a women’s shelter. It’s a fantastic initiative.

Is there a wool item you’re coveting? A vintage Moroccan wool rug from Marr-kett in Byron Bay. The feel underfoot is wonderful. To learn more about Brydie, see page 98.
