JACKIE KENNARD
MOTHER OF THREE DAUGHTERS, CO-FOUNDER OF DUSTY LUXE, IMPORTER OF VINTAGE FRENCH FINDS, 41 Jackie and her husband, Rory, own property near Gerringong, NSW, and are the parents of three girls: Lucy, 12, Heidi, 10, and Andie, eight.
Where do you live? What sort of property?
We are currently living between Sydney and our property in Rose Valley, near Gerringong. The farm is 44.5 hectares where we hold cattle and are establishing a rose and wildflower farm business.
What do you love about living in the country? I grew up in the city, however my family took a sabbatical year to build and live on our farm in Gerringong a few years ago. We all loved this experience so much as we grew closer as a family as we spent so much time together. My highlights of the year included owning chickens, creating a vegetable garden (one of my goals was to create a full meal from this garden, not the chickens!) and designing and styling the interiors of our farmhouse.
How would you describe your style? The farmhouse is a mixture of Hamptons, industrial and French style influences. In regards to fashion, I’d describe my style as classic. I don’t take a lot of risks in my wardrobe as I prefer things that can last longer than one season.
Are you interested in fashion? Yes, but on the farm we get quite dirty and daggy. I love an opportunity to get dressed up and wear a dress, but mostly I live in activewear or casual clothes.
Who are your style influences? My style influences for interiors are Sibella Court from The Society Inc and I love the work of Bettina and Justin Hemmes.
What’s the best style advice you’ve ever received? Clothes should make you feel good and can change your mood, so choose those that you feel great wearing.
What are your wardrobe essentials? Activewear, jeans, sneakers and a great blazer.
What are your favourite clothing labels? Ulla Johnson or Zimmermann for a special occasion, but mostly Tory Sport or Lululemon for activewear, Mother Denim jeans and Zara is a go-to for everything and anything.
Where do you shop for clothing and accessories? I’m a big online shopper when it comes to clothes and I love The Iconic as you can get so many brands in one spot.
What are your essential beauty products?
I use and love Rationale products.
Do you have a favourite fragrance? Prada Rose.
Do you have any favourite accessories? My children.
What things in your daily routine help your keep a balanced life? I’ve been on a meditation and mindfulness journey for a few years and try to practice it daily.
I also keep active with outdoor fitness or tennis.
