Cross Stitcher

OVER TO YOU…

We asked our fans on Facebook their top tips for taking your stitching on holiday with you…

-

SARAH MCKEOWN I have folders for each project so 'in theory' nothing should go missing. These are great to grab and go – I have a needle, needleminder and unpicker in each. Once the project is complete I can empty it out and put a new project in. I have a few of these.

CLAIRE KAMPOWSKI I always take my stitching with me. I use a folder that closes (a zip) so nothing falls out; pattern, scissors, aida, etc. I put my threads in a small thread box, otherwise they will tangle. When stitching outdoors on holiday it can be windy so look around for a nice rock to put in a plastic bag to hold things down.

STACEY RICH I use a bag from Muju with pockets and zips that holds all my sewing and fits perfectly into my handbag. Threads – I put the ones I will need on a ring and needles, threaders and scissors in a little tin. The canvas and pattern I keep in a baggie.

KELLY KINNAIRD If stitching on the beach, (I've done this quite a few times!) add a small bottle of talcum powder. Yes, really! If you dust it over your hands, it totally dries out the sand which then brushes off easily. No sandy stitches!

VICKY GODMON I always take a clipboard to attach my chart. It makes the chart much easier to read, and gives a nice solid surface if you need to balance it on anything.

FIONA DICKSON I take my stitching everywhere with me. I use a pencil case. It keeps everything neat and safe, while flexible to fold and put in a smaller handbag.
