Make a… stitching organiser
Step 1 TURN over the top of the stitched pocket by 1.25cm (½in), twice, and then hand stitch the seam in place. Turn over the three remaining sides of the stitched pocket by 1.25cm (½in), and then pin the pocket to the background evenweave fabric, just below the sewing machine. Stitch down the two backstitched lines on the pocket, attaching it to the background fabric. Stitch the pocket in place at the edges with small, neat stitches or by machine.
Step 2 PLACE the cotton backing fabric, right-sides down on the table, on top of this place the wadding, and then the stitched evenweave fabric with the pocket attached, right-sides up – make sure that everything is centrally placed on the cotton backing fabric.
Step 3 WRAP the cotton backing fabric around the evenweave background fabric at the edges. To do this, fold over the fabric twice, each time by 1.25cm (½in), then pin and catch-stitch the folded edging in place, to give a nice, snug finish.
Step 4 FOLD each of the tapes or ribbon hangers in half to form a loop, and then attach to the back of the backing fabric at the top, with small, neat stitches. Insert a wooden dowel to hang.
