Cross Stitcher

MAKE A… 3D CHRISTMAS TREE TAG

Stitch on perforated paper to make this dimensional design.

-

Step1 CREATE

the 3D effect – first stitch the two Christmas trees onto your perforated paper. Use a loop knot to start your thread which will help to keep the reverse neat.

Step 2 CUT

out both cross stitched trees from the perforated paper, leaving a single perforation around the motif. Trim any harsh edges to smooth the shape.

Step3 PLACE

the small tree on top of the larger tree, matching the centre line of each motif. Backstitch together along the central line, using a matching coloured thread, we’ve used pink thread for demonstration purposes.

Step 4 FOLD

the small tree along the backstitch line to create the subtle 3D finish. Use double-sided tape to attach the tree to your circle of card. We created the tree trunk by stamping the word ‘joy’, but you can handwrite this or another message.
