WORK­ING ON A DARKER FAB­RIC:

By us­ing a black aida back­ground some of the de­tails are ef­fec­tively cre­ated us­ing neg­a­tive shapes – here the palm trees and parts of the land­scape have been formed in this way.

METAL­LIC THREADS FOR SPARKLE:

The bright star in the East hov­er­ing over Beth­le­hem is brought to life with light gold DMC Light Ef­fects metal­lic thread. You'll find it used for a few French knots too.

DENSE AR­EAS OF BRIGHT STITCH­ING:

The dark fab­ric al­lows ar­eas of colour and metallics to form the vi­brant build­ings. Use the park and stitch method of thread­ing sev­eral nee­dles to save time here.
