Cross Stitcher

OVER TO YOU…

-

We asked our fans on Facebook, “How many friends or family members have you got hooked on cross stitch?”

GEORGIA CARTWRIGHT My mum, auntie and cousin. Plus, my dad is o work due to being really sick but has taken an interest in cross stitch. He wants me to show him how to do it so we can sit together and cross stitch when he is having a good day.

LEAH GRAHAM CAVE My best friend started because of how much I love it and I got my fiancé obsessed with it, too!

LIZ DRAPER When my mother’s MS got so bad she couldn’t knit, I gave her one of my CrossStitcher magazine kits, and she never looked back! Even when she became bed-bound she carried on stitching. I have several pieces she made for me, around the house, and several more half done that she gave me when I saw her last. She lived in New Zealand for her last 20 years, so we only got to see her once, a few years before she died. I’ll finish those pieces she left me, one day!

CORAL BALE I got my partner into cross stitch during lockdown, he loves it. He started with small kits but the one he’s most proud of is a German Shepherd.

MARY KAY SARTOR I taught both my sons when they were younger. They didn’t continue until a few years ago. My oldest was given a kit by guys he knew as a joke. But he stitched it, showed them, and has been stitching since, realizing how relaxing it can be.

RHIANNON M JONES I was a craft teacher in adult education doing various other crafts but I always had my cross stitching with me. Over the years quite a few saw me doing it and I ended up giving them lessons.

SANDY RALEIGH My daughter and my husband... I can’t keep them out of my supplies now. My daughter started cross stitching two years ago at the age of seven. My husband started just this year. He suers from mental health issues and cross stitching has been one of the few things that help him.

SUSAN THOMAS I got two of my colleagues at work back into cross stitching and we used to sit in the sta canteen together working away.

URSULA MACLENNAN I taught my late partner who did some amazing work, also his daughter and my granddaughter.
