Design And Hospitality In Focus At Ambiente 2020

-

The latest products across Dining, Living and Giving segments will once again be on display at the world’s leading consumer goods trade fair Ambiente in Frankfurt in February. From 7 to 11 February, Messe Frankfurt will be buzzing with thousands of exhibitors presenting tableware, kitchenware, household goods and leisure as well as gifts, interior decoration and interior design.

Last year, 136,081 visitors discovered the products of 4,460 exhibitors from 92 countries across a vast 308,000 square metres of exhibition space. This year, there will be an increased focus on the hospitality sector. Building on rising international interest, a hall will be dedicated specifically to the HoReCa (hotel, restaurant and catering) front-of-house segment – everything to do with the guest’s hospitality experience and the provision of that experience.

Alongside exhibitor displays there will be a program of talks under the banner ‘HoReCa Academy’. Which developments are currently causing a stir in the hospitality sector? What are the latest trends in the front-of-house business? And how does the choice of tableware impact a person’s experience of a meal? These are some of the questions that will be asked. “In the future our visitors will be able to focus even more closely on topics at the interface between hospitality, tableware and interior design,” says Stephan Kurzawski, Senior Vice President, Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH.

Among the HoReCa Academy speakers will be Pierre

Nierhaus, a hospitality expert known for his international trend expeditions. He will discuss the latest developments in food and beverage as well as tabletop products, and provide guided tours around Ambiente 2020. Other speakers will include food design researcher Dr Francesca Zampollo, food presentation designer Ido Garini and chef Jozef Youssef.

Designer tours of Ambiente 2020 at large will be conducted on 8 and 9 February by Dutch designer Ineke Hans (focusing on the Dining segment) and German designer Mark Braun (focusing on the Living and Giving segments). The tours will visit select stands and provide insights into the inspirational ideas behind the products. More inspiration will be found in Galleria 1, where a trend presentation commissioned by Ambiente will explore three themes identified by studio bora.herke.palmisano: ‘Shaped + Softened’, ‘Precise + Architectural’ and ‘Artistical + Diverse’. Also in Galleria 1, ‘Focus On Design: Brazil’ will feature outstanding products from five design studios.

There’ll be plenty more to see and experience at Ambiente 2020, including award ceremonies (including the German

Design Award), a zone dedicated to design talents, and products manufactured with sustainable and ethical principles (via Ambiente’s Ethical Style Guide).
