“I was an 18st-plus lorry driver who gorged on burgers, pizzas and pies,” recalls Dave. “Like many other truckers I considered cyclists a nuisance. Now I’m six stone lighter and a cycling fanatic who loves yoga.”

Dave’s boss, Oliver, steered him towards cycling. “I ride with a couple of the guys who work for me,” explains Oliver. “We’d entered the firm’s team, Conquip, into the Revolve24 charity event at Brands Hatch and asked Dave to be involved. He thought he was going to be ‘pit crew’, but I knew that he wanted to lose weight and get fitter so we put him down as a rider. He agreed thanks to some friendly peer pressure!”

“I was apprehensive,” says Dave. “I did want to change my life, and I know Ollie wanted to help me do it… After riding in Revolve I got a hybrid bike and started riding at weekends with him. I’ve shed weight, cleared out the junk food and now take cool boxes of healthy foods and my bike in the truck. I’ve been riding in Spain and am entering Revolve24 again.”
