This is a classic transition stage exiting the Pyrenees that rewards a daring breakaway, particularly with GC teams likely wanting – and needing – an easier day. It will be a pretty but demanding stage with constant undulations, ending with the Côte Saint-Pierre in Rodez. It’s a little over 600m long and gains just 58m but with a couple of 15 per cent sections it will hopefully provide fireworks.
