Weights and measures

The Lezyne is the smaller and, at 1.38kg, lighter of the two, but the CNC-machined aluminium Digital Drive comes with a 125cm nylon-braided hose. The metal base and solid construction ensure a smooth pumping action.

The technology

This pump comes with an easy-to-read digital gauge and is claimed to be accurate to within three per cent, which tallied with our own gauge. Battery life from the CR2032 cell is said to be good for a ‘year under constant use’.

Pump up the volume

This has a maximum pressure of 220psi (though the gauge maxes out at 320). It gets a 25mm tyre up to 100psi in around 28 strokes, which was longer than the Joe Blow. The Digital Drive has Lezyne’s ABS Flip Thread Chuck (with air-bleed system) that screws on to the Presta valve, which does make for a secure connection though it is slower to attach than the Joe Blow’s and it is possible to accidentally unscrew the valve core so take care, especially if you’re using tubeless tyres. Lezyne has just launched the ABS2 chuck to overcome this.

Extra, extra

The pump comes with a twoyear warranty, ball and bladder adaptors and most of the parts – hose, gauge, chuck and so on – can be replaced, so its working life should outstrip that. We didn’t have any trouble with the chuck, but we’d go for the model with the ABS2 item that’s about to hit the shops.
