OTE ENERGY PRODUCTS
£Various › Riding fuel made easy
1 Simple to use
The general rule is that you need 60g of carbohydrates to fuel an hour’s ride. The beauty of OTE’s products is that its whole fuelling range is designed around that magic number, so it’s easy to work out how much to eat and drink.
2 It’s all natural
Key components are the use of natural "avourings, no arti#cial sweeteners or colours. OTE also o$ers a more balanced, complete option – its bars contain carbs and proteins, the energy drink contains electrolytes, as do the gels, so you don’t need to look for add-ons.
3 Crispy goodness
The Duo bar has a rice cake base and delivers 41g of carbs and 9.3g of protein, which is more than some specialist protein bars. As the name suggests, it handily splits into two, and the crispy texture makes it easy to eat and light on the stomach. It comes in chocolate or vanilla "avours.
4 Drink up
Mix one energy drink sachet (£1.50) with 500ml of water to see 40g of carbs. The drink is also designed to be pH neutral so it won’t upset your stomach, even on epic rides. Along with the balance of carbs, electrolytes and no harsh ingredients, the natural taste is another bonus. It comes in vanilla, blackcurrant, orange and lemon and lime "avours.
5 Gels together
The gel has a more liquid consistency than most, and with 20.5g of carbs from a 56g gel, it’ll fuel you for 20-30 minutes. With plenty of electrolytes it’s great for warm weather rides. The dualopening sachet means you can sip a bit at a time or go for one big hit. Choose from blackcurrant, orange and lemon and lime "avours, priced at £1.50 each.
