7 Climbing turbo session

Hill climbing is an important part of any rider’s training programme. Even sprinters need to be able to get over the mountains, and can be faced with elevation gains of up to 5000ft and some tough mountain top finishes. Training for climbs can be difficult, especially if you haven’t got any mountains right on your doorstep. Each climb is different, and this session is designed to get the most out of an hour, and simulates some of the challenges your body will face on the road. - 8-minute warm-up in Zone 1 - 12-minute climb spiked Zone 3 (10-second spike every 3 minutes) - 6 minutes recovery in Zone 1 - 2x9-minute climbs (3 mins in Zone 3 + 3 mins Zone 4 + 3 mins Zone 3), 6 minutes recovery between climbs - 5 minutes easy cool-down in Zone 1 (For Zone details see page 12)
