Specification
Dedacciai’s Zero2 clincher wheelset is designed as an allround training wheel for athletes wanting to save their best wheels for race day. The 6061 aluminium rims are 22mm wide externally, 16mm internally and 25mm tall. They spin on Enduro Abec 5 bearings within aluminium hubs that have 20 radial slim, bladed, straight-pull spokes up front, and 24 rear in a 2:1 ratio. Including 42g of rim tape, our pair weighed 1642g, with the quick-release skewers adding another 119g.
Fitting
As rim brakedesigned clinchers, the Dedas only come with a quick-release option, but sport 12mm axles and a three-pawl freehub. Our Michelin Power tyres were a tighter fit than on the DTs, but measured 26mm wide once on.
Performance
The Zero2s feel responsive, and react instantly to accelerations. They display great lateral stiffness, particularly when climbing out of the saddle or sprinting, and are predictable when descending at speed. Stopping is easily controlled and fuss-free with the smoothly finished braking track. The overall ride feel is lively and positive, with no need to worry when it’s windy.
In conclusion
The Zero2s are solid performers and good value, competing with Mavic’s benchmark Ksyrium. But the 16mm internal width is becoming unnecessarily narrow.
