Is tubeless worth trying? Up until recently tubeless was great for bigger volume tyres on rougher roads and tracks. Here, increased survivability at lower – more controlled and comfortable – pressures was worth the extra fitting faff. It took Schwalbe’s fast, floated and easy to fit Pro One tyres to really make tubeless ‘pop’ for rapid road use in smaller sizes.

Now Vittoria, Hutchinson, Mavic, Bontrager, Panaracer and others are all offering excellent inner tube-free tyres, with Pirelli, Continental and others bringing options to the market soon. Add more and more airtight wheels plus Smart valve systems like MilKit and there’s never been a better time to declare inner tubes extinct for your daily riding.
