Stages Dash

-

The Dash from power crankers Stages didn’t have the smoothest route to market but now it’s here it offers almost bottomless training data display functionality in a unique landscape or portrait format. Only proper training/ ride geeks using the Stages Link software will reap the full benefits, and it’s got no navigation function.

The alloy body can be clipped onto the out-front mount in portrait or landscape form, then you can populate the clear and glare-free screen with up to 16 data fields at once. These fields can be customisable in terms of size, placement and content, and you can upload different page options to scroll through. Workout display is obviously a focus of the Dash with no distracting graphics, just pure numbers and text. There’s no route/navigation elements but it has configurable interval training text prompts and programs. This includes a neat triggered lap interval option that lets you decide when to start the next charge, rather than ploughing headlong into traffic.

While post-workout data downloads can be intimidatingly intense on your computer screen it’s relatively easy to simplify them down to colour-coded data. If you’re likely to dumb down your data to digest it then you’re not going to get full potential from the Dash. Full display and data management only happens if you’re hooked up to a Stages Link subscription too, increasing an already high price for the features you get.
