LAUF TRUE GRIT RACE EDITION
THREE THINGS WE LOVE ABOUT THE... £2400 (frameset only)
Smooth ride
The fork has a leaf-spring suspension system that gives 30mm of frictionfree travel at the front, which does a remarkable job of removing gritbased buzz from the bar to boost all-day ride comfort. It also sticks the wheel to the ground for improved grip, aiding cornering and braking traction. The Grit SL fork is sleeker and stiffer than the original Grit fork.
All-day trucking
The True Grit is designed as a gravel race bike, built for races such as the UK’s Dirty Reiver and the Dirty Kanza 200 in Kansas. The geometry is long, low and slack, so it doesn’t throw up any surprises when tarmac turns to dirt. The frame is stiff enough to transmit power effectively, without being too harsh.
Super-simple design
Unless you run SRAM eTap wireless gears, it’s 1x only for simplicity. Internal cable routing is designed to be as easy to maintain as possible too. Disc brakes mean no issues with dirty or pringled rims, and are the only really reliable options for gravel bikes. With glass fibre springs and no damping cartridge, the fork is as fit and forget as they come.
ONE THING WE’D CHANGE It’s very obviously suspended
The fork smooths out the chatter, leaving the back end to skitter over everything. A bump-absorbing seatpost, such as the Ergon CF3, would even out the balance between the suspended front and rigid rear.
