PEARL IZUMI

-

WE SAY... The expected high-end Pearl quality is there but has the price to match

PRO JERSEY £139 SIZES S-XL COLOURS Black, Red

Pearl’s Pro jersey uses its PRO Transfer In-R-Cool soft and smooth fabric throughout with elasticated mesh side panels. These panels feel stiff but help to keep things fitted for a good overall fit. One downer was that we did find the neck big and loose fitting. The front hem and sleeves use a neatly folded and bonded design. Without any silicon detailing the sleeves rode up around the bicep during riding and this made them feel on the tight side. The rear gripper hem keeps the jersey perfectly in place. With one zipped pocket and three main pockets that feature two extra external slots on the side pockets there’s more storage space than you’ll ever need. The Pro is a good jersey with some neat features but at this price, we’d expect fewer minor fit niggles.

PRO SHORTS £189 SIZES S-XL COLOURS Black, Black Stripe, Navy, Navy Paisley

Pearl has designed its Pro shorts with long ride comfort at the top of its list. They’re sleek and simple looking, which provides an understated aesthetic, especially with their smooth and soft Pro Transfer Fabric. This fabric feels good against the skin, wicks well and dries quickly. The cut here is fitted and supportive but remains true to size and comfortable thanks to seven cleverly designed panels that work well with the body as you move throughout the pedal stroke. The raw leg ends are silicon lined and sit well with a smooth skin transition, while the uppers use wide laser-cut straps to keep things in place. The inner dual density Pro Escape pad is wide covering but sits pretty even on the longest rides.
