Ritchey’s 6061 alloy Streem bar combines the old (with its classic curved drop shape) with the new, featuring flattened wing tops. The hooks come with 128mm of drop with 73mm of reach and have zero flare. These are less angular than most and ideal for tucking in on. For added comfort, Ritchey has not only flattened the tops, which are great to climb on, but has added 4.7-degrees of sweep to bring the bars closer to you. This is especially good for those who prefer a more upright position without the need to swap the stem. We had no problems with flex even when sprinting. What we like here is the marriage of old and new shapes that makes for a great-riding fusion bar, whatever style of pedalling you do. And at this price it offers good value for money.

As the cheapest stem on test the Comp 4-Axis delivers an impressive performance with some neat features that are unique to it. The front plate uses Ritchey’s own 4-Axis bolt setup that has the clamping bolts at 22mm apart, which is closer together than most brands. The idea is that it helps to distribute the road vibrations through the face plate, rather than bar. While this is hard to feel on the road, it’s certainly not a negative thing.

The 3-D forged 6061 alloy Comp features a low-profile, classic two-bolt design. Ritchey uses this two-bolt design because it says it reduces stress on the rails of modern lightweight saddles. It does mean it takes a little more time to fit, though. Overall a solid performer that balances weight, stiffness and strength without breaking the bank.
