KURT KINETIC R1

£759 Sideways approach

-

WEIGHT 21.5kg FLYWHEEL 6.3kg CASSETTE INCLUDED No NOISE 75dB

The R1 is unique with its sideways motion that's designed to mimic the natural ride feel of being on the road with up to 15 degrees of movement. It also does all the things you’d expect from a smart trainer and is compatible with all regular and thru-axle setups.

There’s no building involved with the R1. It’s simply a case of pulling out the stabiliser legs. A useful handle makes moving it around easier. Once set up it has a footprint of 50cm long x 87cm wide and along with the weight it provides a stable platform. It connects via all the usual channels and works with all platforms.

Hopping on the bike is instantly a new sensation compared to other trainers. The sideways movement feels a little extreme at first but once you settle into

smooth pedalling it’s less wobbly and the subtly of it starts to feel good, like riding outside. This movement is adjustable so you can dial it in to your personal needs.

Kurt Kinetic uses a belt driven 6.3kg flywheel that helps to deliver a real-ride feel and it can handle power resistances of 2000 watts. The controlled resistance does a good job of simulating any changes in terrain and works with gradients up to 20 degrees. This will keep even the best of climbers happy. We also found the output from the R1 to be within two per cent accuracy.

One negative is that the

R1 is noisier than most of its competitors but remains quiet compared to on-wheel trainers. A capable trainer that offers a unique and realistic ride.
