WEIGHT 21.5kg FLYWHEEL 7.25kg CASSETTE INCLUDED Yes NOISE 61dB

It was Wahoo’s directdrive Kickr that led the revolution of modern smart trainers using open platforms. Its latest incarnation combines all the important ingredients in a competitively priced package. It’s user-friendly with a well-located grab handle and physical setup couldn’t be easier with its foldout legs with height adjustable feet.

It works with a wide variety of wheel sizes from 24-inch road/MTB through to 700c road and 29-inch MTB. It also works with all common hub widths and thru-axles with adaptors in the box. There’s also an 11-28t cassette included adding to its competitive price.

Connectivity is via ANT+, ANT+ FE-C and Bluetooth, allowing you to control things with a smartphone or tablet (iOS and

Android), Wahoo’s Elemnt head units or a computer working with both Macs and PCs.

Once the bike was slotted in the Kickr it felt extremely stable, which continued even when working hard out of the saddle. The Kickr offers up to 2200 watts of resistance and we were impressed that the power accuracy was within one per cent. It also works with gradients of up to 20 per cent.

In use, the Kickr is almost silent and much of the noise generated is from the bike’s transmission system and any heavy breathing. The ride feel is among the best thanks to its 7.25kg flywheel. Impressive considering it costs under £1000. Just.

A superb, high-performing trainer that packs down small for easy storage.
