MAAP Transit Motion Pant, Motion Shirt and Shift Dry LS Tee

£110, £90, £50 Stylish street-styled, unisex commuter wear

- Warren Rossiter

AUSTRALIA’S MAAP CLOTHING has a reputation for making some of the most stylish road-bike clothing around. Now it’s branched out into commuter clothing that mixes style and performance for the ride to work.

Its Shift Dry long-sleeved tee has a relaxed fit plus a reflective strip on the back for increased visibility. Its Drirelease fabric is silky soft to the touch, ultra-thin and lightweight with it. It’s made with a combination of recycled polyester and organic cotton, is very fast drying and resists odours too.

The Motion shirt follows the ‘shacket’ trend and looks office smart while still being technical. The fabric is lightweight with four-way stretch and a DWR (durable water-resistant) coating so it’s perfect for warmer weather when a jacket’s not needed. It breathes well and has fast become one of my first choices when I’m office bound on my bike.

The Motion pant uses the same material as the shirt and has some equally bikefriendly design details. The legs have a tapered cut with button-down hems to stop them catching in your drivetrain, then there’s a drawstring waist as well as a button and a zip fly, to give extra adjustment. Twin front pockets with zips, a security zipped pocket on the left hip and open rear pockets give loads of storage. And, crucially, off the bike, these trousers, like the tops, still manage to look stylish.

In all, Mapp’s Transit range is some of the best commuter wear around. Its technical features outstrip its rivals’, yet the stylish, sporty design looks great too.
