Fam­ily four­some claims Southies golf day win

The Mar­shall fam­ily came to­gether to win the De­niliquin South School Char­ity Golf Day on Sun­day.

The quar­tet of broth­ers Todd, Tony and Sam Mar­shall, with cousin Mark Rourke, scored 541⁄ to win the am­brose event.

The day saw 22 teams com­pete, with a to­tal of 88 play­ers to raise just un­der $3000 for the school.

South School prin­ci­pal Greg Danck­ert said the money will be used by the P&C com­mit­tee.

‘‘The money will go to­wards things like IT re­sources, sub­si­dis­ing major ex­cur­sions and other needs around the school,’’ he said.

‘‘The school would like to thank Alana Tilders, who or­gan­ised the day, as well as the Deni Golf Club and lo­cal busi­nesses that sup­ported the day.’’

The next char­ity event on the De­niliquin Golf Club’s cal­en­dar is the Legacy Char­ity Day on Sun­day, Novem­ber 12.

The fol­low­ing Sun­day, Novem­ber 19, is the Chan­nel 4 Change Char­ity Day, sup­port­ing Brenda Nor­man’s English Chan­nel swim to raise aware­ness of men­tal health.

Tony, Todd and Sam Mar­shall and their cousin Mark Rourke made up the win­ning team.
