Add a fill-in light

-

Once Helen had become more confident, we decided to move on to using another flash on the opposite side to the key light. We started with both lights at the same power setting, and the same distance from Antonia, producing a soft lighting, with very few shadows. This lighting is flattering because it masks skin problems, but we decided that it looked too flat. Both lights were already on their minimum power setting, so we moved the fill light further away to reduce its effect, creating a three-dimensional look.

?? ?? By altering the distance of the second flash, which was acting as a fill-in light, Helen was able to create a flat, even light and also one with more obvious shadows.
