Having played with my studio kit at home, I knew how to change the settings but had no concept of why I had to do certain things. I also knew that certain set-ups made better use of light, but didn’t know what to look for. I couldn’t believe that something as simple as turning the lights off in the studio could make such a difference. That has helped me enormously with controlling light, and has given me the confidence to experiment more to achieve better results.
