Step by step Content-Aware Cropping

Generate extra pixels as you crop, and go beyond the constraints of your original frame

Crop into the space 1

Grab the Crop tool from the Tools panel (or press C). Drag the crop box corner points to rotate the frame, or drag outwards to include extra space. Tick Content-Aware in the tool options bar at the top. Fine-tune the positioning of the crop box until you’re happy.

Apply and tidy 2

To apply the crop, either click the tick in the toolbar, double-click the image or press Return. Photoshop will generate new pixels to fill in the empty areas caused by the rotation. If the job isn’t perfect, grab the Clone tool (press S), hold Alt to sample a source, then clone to tidy any rough patches.
