X is for X-rays
Travel photographers were right to be wary of airport security X-rays in the past, because repeated exposure to them could fog film – especially if it was a fast emulsion with a high ISO value. Nowadays, there’s much less to worry about, as neither digital cameras nor memory cards are affected adversely by X-ray machines. The image data stored on a memory card is a string of digital code, rather than a vulnerable, lightsensitive medium, so it’s not susceptible to X-ray radiation.
