fake news
RESEARCHERS from the University of Lincoln have published a new study that reveals the science behind a ‘trick of the light’ that made photographs of an art installation, Blade, in the centre of Hull appear faked, even though they weren’t.
The team discovered that the visual illusion was caused by the particular way in which light reflected from the 75-metre, 25-tonne wind turbine blade, giving the impression that the blade was cylindrical and was being lit from the side rather than above. The end result was that it looked out of place and therefore super-imposed. (See photo above.)
