Lavender love

- Chelsea Smith

I’d like to shoot some lavender next summer. Can I do it in the UK, or would I need to go to France?

Lavender is grown extensively in the UK, and there are many farms in the south and east of England where you can potentially get some great

images. I know there are places in Hampshire, Norfolk, Surrey, Hertfordshire and Worcestershire where it’s possible. Many of these are commercially run farms, where there is a charge for entry and often a separate charge for photography, so check the rules before arrival.

For huge fields that stretch as far as the eye can see, travel to Provence. Typically, the lavender is at its best in early July, but flowering can vary a few weeks.
