Discover how to use key tools and techniques to enhance images with our complete Photoshop workflow guide
Photographers, artists, illustrators, digital painters and designers all get different things out of Photoshop, which goes to show
how much depth there is to it. For beginners, the sheer power of Photoshop can seem daunting. There are so many tools and menus that a beginner can get lost. Here we’ll give you an in-depth guide into a typical Photoshop project – taking a portrait subject and placing her against a different background.
Our guide is designed to cut through the complicated menus, panels and commands to get to the core skills you need to learn – such as layers, masks, tonal adjustments and selections – to complete virtually any Photoshop task. Along our journey from camera to print, we’ll encounter a range of fundamental Photoshop tasks, from making tonal tweaks and basic retouching, to using Blend Modes and creating intricate selections. It barely scratches the surface of what Photoshop can do, but we’d need a few dozen issues to do that! Instead, it’s a project to help beginners and intermediates to develop core skills that will be useful in almost any creative task.
