CURVES 1

Curves is the most powerful Adjustment Layer option. Plot points along the curve line and drag them up or down to manipulate the tonal range (Shadows are on the left side, Highlights on the right). An S-shaped curve like this lightens highlights and darkens shadows, resulting in extra contrast.
