Shootout
Two readers battle it out in the Somerset Levels and Glastonbury
THE summit of Glastonbury Tor seemed a fitting meeting place for the start of our day on the Levels. The local schools were on half-term break and this, combined with the crisp, sunny conditions, meant that we had to contend with a waves of visitors washing up the Tor’s slopes. “I was well out of my comfort zone!” reveals Matt. “With weddings and events it’s all split-second stuff, so trying to wrestle with a tripod and Live View was frustrating. Eventually I gave up and went handheld.
“I love dark and moody skies, but on the day we had bright sunshine, and with so many visitors to the Tor it proved hard to get a clean shot. I decided to try something a little different and shoot into the sun, creating a starburst effect on the sun with a small aperture of f/16.”
