Meet the outdoor and street winners, plus our overall champions!
Peter Kováčik
Morag and Ted say: “Congratulations to Peter: this image is incredibly beautiful and very well-executed. The textures and tones in the trees complement each other perfectly, and contrast wonderfully with the pristine white snow in the foreground.
“Forests can be suggestive of fairytales and folklore in any light and weather, but fresh lying snow is perhaps one of the most evocative. Without question this image conveys a deep sense of place and a strong resonance with the landscape.”
2nd Nick Board
“A wonderfully simple, beautifully exposed and original image. The minimalistic tones of the glacier lend a sense of serenity to an evolving landscape. The inclusion of people brings scale and a narrative to the picture, while the uncomplicated sky keeps the glacier centre stage. A deserving second place in a category that was very difficult to judge.”
3rd Peter Kováčik
“An atmospheric shot, with the incredible light, mist, shadows and trees combining to perfectly frame the castle. The composition here deserves a special mention: Peter has captured the weather conditions impeccably, with enough detail to ground the eye while retaining a mysterious shroud elsewhere in the image. The autumnal tree in front of the castle is the icing on the cake.”
