GOING WILD!

MANUAL MODE IS BRILLIANT FOR FASTMOVING ANIMALS LIKE THIS BARN OWL

-

Locking off your settings allows you to concentrate purely on focusing and tracking fast-moving animals. 1 Boost the shutter speed

You’ll want a rapid shutter speed to ensure pin-sharp shots, free from camera-shake. A shutter speed of 1/1,000 sec or faster is ideal. You’ll need to widen your aperture and boost the ISO to enable these fast shutter speeds for a decent exposure. 2 Shoot raw files

Switch to this format and you’ll be able to change the exposure when you’re back at your computer, so you can correct the images if they’re a little over- or underexposed. 3 Check your shots regularly

Always take a test shot, and regularly using the rear LCD, check your images are correctly exposed and the focus is correct. Be sure to zoom in on the screen to check the sharpness: it’s better to discover that it’s wrong and reshoot it while you’re still out shooting.
