SHOOTING LONG EXPOSURES
SLOW DOWN YOUR SHUTTER SPEED WITHOUT ADJUSTING THE ISO AND APERTURE
Long exposures rely on shutter speeds that are too slow to shoot handheld, so you will require a tripod. They also allow you to blur any moving parts in your shot, like the cars in this image. 1 Lengthen your shutter speed
Go into Manual mode, then dial in a wide aperture of around f/4 and an ISO of 100 for good image quality. Set your long shutter speed, such as 1 sec, or go all the way up to 30 seconds for more motion.
2 Check the shot
Take a look at the picture to make sure you’re achieving the amount of blur you want and refine the shutter speed accordingly. 3 Use Bulb mode
Some cameras have a dedicated Bulb mode; with others, you need to go into Manual mode and extend the shutter speed until you get to the Bulb setting. This allows you to shoot for longer than 30 seconds.
