CONTRIBUTORS
We’re proud to plate up another great issue of dish, and here are some of the lovely people behind it!
Weronika Elantkowska Events and digital coordinator @weroelantkowska
Weronika – ‘Ronnie’ to the team – is originally from Poznan, Poland, and if you were to meet her in person, she could shoot the breeze with you in any of five languages. Because as well as being a digital whizz (and a lifesaver for dish’s digi offerings during lockdown), she speaks Spanish, German, English, Polish and Greek. In her home country, she did a Masters in Linguistics, then a postgrad diploma in Communication/pr at AUT in Auckland. She came to New Zealand with her Costa Rican husband Andres (they met in Italy). “Although I miss my family, friends, food and snow, we call New Zealand home now,” she says. “I love Mexican and Italian cuisine and of course Polish too; pierogi (dumplings) and barszcz (borscht) are my favourites.”
Olivia Galletly Food contributor @thehungrycooknz
Olivia is a passionate and ubertalented home cook based north of Auckland, with a penchant for seasonal, feel-good food. Her talent for photography and styling sees her produce spreads that are so beautifully evocative, we could almost eat the pages. “I love to see people happily chatting over dinner, knowing that a part of that happiness is coming from something that I’ve cooked.”
Conor Fox Designer @conorfox
When she’s not working her design magic on our pages, Conor – dedicated foodie that she is – can probably be found loitering at Charlies Gelato in Matakana, where she grew up. Or at home poring over her fave cookbook, Snoop Dogg’s From Crook to Cook. “Although I’ve only made the cocktail recipes from it so far!” she admits. She’s also partial to xiao long bao (steamed soup dumplings), which she developed a liking for on a trip to Taiwan. Conor’s other loves are delightfully diverse – the colour pink, horror movies, and comic books. This summer’s beach reading: SAGA by Brian K Vaughan and Fiona Staples.
