Hotel Byblos.

Ever since 1950s screen goddess Brigitte Bardot wriggled on its shores, Saint-Tropez has been the summer spot for the glamour set. And nowhere evokes its French Riviera savoir-vivre like the Hotel Byblos.

MOVES LIKE JAGGER

Built to resemble a series of quintessential Provencal village houses, Hotel Byblos was integral in putting Saint-Tropez on the jet-set map. Its opening party in 1967 saw Pink Floyd perform moments after Mick Jagger proposed to Bianca Perez and Hotel Byblos, with its distinctive terracotta perched against the azure Mediterranean, immediately became a byword for glamour, excess and sun-kissed hedonism.

EAT, DRINK, LOVE

Alain Ducasse is France’s most famous chef, the man who f lambés the skills of any other “cook’’. Ducasse is, of course, the foody behind Rivea, Hotel Byblos signature restaurant. Think classic Mediterranean dishes from Provence, combined with the more upscale f lavors of Paris and Northern Italy.

THE WORST DISCO IN TOWN!

Pale pink rose, crisp and dry, is consumed like water in the south of France. It also has an alcohol volume of 14 percent and before you know it, you’re crawling on the f loor like Patsy from Absolutely Fabulous. Sip on this one at B, the hotel’s poolside bar, before donning your gladrags and hitting Les Caves du Roy, that infamous discotheque (and home to Eurotrash) which has seen the likes of P-Diddy, Naomi Campbell, Bono, Beyoncé and the Beckhams. Terrible music, over-priced drinks but this temple of Tropezian nights remains a must for any visitor to St Tropez.

IT’S A CLASSIC

Combining antique French furniture with evocative local fabrics in blues and oranges, the rooms are scented with lavender and transport you to one of the famed Provencal village markets. While not cutting-edge in design terms, the overall aesthetic is cosy, pretty and, most importantly, archetypal to the region.

STAR TREATMENT

The French do spa treatments like no other nation on Earth. Elegant and with an indisputable finesse, Spa Byblos By Sisley will leave you feeling refreshed, rejuvenated and able to take on the sexiest of screen sirens.
