Dustin Lance Black’s upcoming docu-drama miniseries chronicles the modern American

LGBTI rights movement over eight hours, from the Stonewall Riots to the legalisation of samesex marriage in America.

The series is loosely based on activist Cleve Jones’ memoir When We Rise: My Life In The Movement. In the series, Guy Pearce plays Jones. Rachel Griffiths, Whoopi Goldberg, MaryLouise Parker, Rob Reiner and Rosie O’Donnel also make appearances. Black wrote the scripts for all seven episodes and Gus Van Sant directs the series’ two-hour premiere.
