MILKBEACH: THE BEACH, THE TOWEL

A hidden gem on the Sydney harbour offers more than just great views – it inspired a whole beach brand.

-

IT WAS ONCE a well-kept secret, known only to locals. Now, if you can find it, Milk Beach in the exclusive Sydney suburb of Vaucluse offers a unique day out, with stunning views of the city and harbour.

With just 50 metres of sandy beach, it can get busy on a hot summer weekend, but the broader appeal of the beach is the area’s sense of privacy and history. The grounds around Milk Beach include rolling green heritage grounds and a Victorian Italianate mansion dating back to the mid-19th Century. The area served as inspiration for the recently launched brand MILKBEACH – who created the Day Towel, a luxurious and modern reinvention of the classic Australian beach towel.

The best time to visit Milk Beach is between October and the end of March. However, many a winter’s day can be enjoyed on a picnic blanket with some bubbly, provided the sun is out. There are more active ways to make the most of the area; with walking trails and heritage listed sites the entire area provides plenty to do and see. Getting there can take a bit of researching but once found, it’s easy to revisit.

Check out some of the snaps the guys at MILKBEACH have on their Instagram account @milkbeachsydney. The brand’s goal is to not only provide a high-fashion choice for beach accessories but also a socially conscious one, ensuring all materials are sustainable and responsibly sourced. Shop for them exclusively online www.milkbeach.com.au.
