I Am Michael tells the true story of Michael Glatze, a once-out-and-proud activist and journalist who turned to God after becoming celiac. “Born again” Michael declared he was no longer gay and suggested that “divine intervention” had straightened him out. He left his long-term gay partner and moved to Wyoming, studied to become a pastor and married a woman. James Franco does some of his best work in gay roles, and this film offers a challenge to both the actor and a gay audience. A talking-point film. Available on DVD.
