When asked if he’s part of a new radical gay musical movement alongside fellow envelopepushers, PWR BTTM, Brendan insists it’s not for him to decide before admitting that “even having my name uttered in the same sentence as PWR BTTM is a huge compliment. Relentless truthtellers are what is needed and I like to think I’m at least that, even if people aren’t into the music.”

As to who his contemporaries are in the current queer scene Brendan says he has “time for any queer artist who doesn’t shave the rough corners off our culture. Rappers like Le1f or HTML Flowers are certainly painting with the same political fire I hope to. Musically, I’m loving Bright Light Bright Light, but I’m not just listening to queer music. Locally, the girls are killing it! Ngaiire, Megan Washington and Sarah Belkner have totally changed the sonic landscape of Australian music. I am proud to be regularly working with those three.”
