TESLA

Sitting behind the wheel of Tesla’s Models S P100D, I realise just how intelligent this machine really is.

All-electric, it pairs a high-performance rear motor with a high efficiency front motor to achieve what’s called Ludicrous acceleration. At the push of a button, you’re catapulted from zero to 100km/h in 2.7 seconds.

If you prefer to take things at a more relaxed pace, turn on the enhanced Autopilot allowing autosteer up to 150km/h, Auto Lane Change, and Automatic Emergency Braking.

If you’ve been parked-in by another car and can’t open your door, simply summon your car to drive out with the use of your mobile phone.

The cabin is a masterpiece, minimal and stylish, housing the 17-inch touchscreen that controls most of the car’s functions. Opening the all-glass panoramic roof, customizing the automatic climate control, and changing the radio station all happen with a swipe or a touch.

MUSTANG

Just looking at the Mustang GT I was about to test drive made my heart beat faster. Yes, my inner-rev-head came shining through.

Strapped in and sitting low in the cockpit, I fired up the 5.0L V8 and it roared into life, with the horsepower chomping at the bit, ready to be set free.

I selected Sports Steering, gripped the gears and push it into first. I’m off, and giddy with exhilaration. The car hugs the road and I take the corners with precision.

While the Mustang GT may look all brawn and no brains that’s not the case. The fully integrated, voice activation system lets you use your favourite devices while your hands stay on the wheel and your eyes stay safely on the road. Sync your phone to call your friends, play your favourite music, and stay on track with the integrated Satellite Navigation System.
