In this sold-out show at Radio City Music Hall in Manhattan, filmed just before it closed for covid-19, his awesome vocal talents are well showcased. He performs mostly original material, well written and beautifully sung, if not familiar. His stunning voice is at its best on Elton’s Take Me To The Pilot (a highlight of the concert) and his own delicate Grow As We Go.
He does wear distractingly odd pants that seem to reach right to his armpits and he does a lot of Mika dancing (ie, badly) but here’s a guy with bucketloads of talent, confidence and humility. He has beautiful words for his mum and heartfelt patter about being gay. It’s a pleasure to be in his company for 85 minutes.
