This appealing independent LGBTIQ drama series of 15-minute episodes was shot on a shoestring and is sustained with insightful writing and engaging performances. The east side refers to the Silver Lake area of LA.

It explores the aftermath of infidelity in a gay relationship, but it’s more about the daily struggles of domesticity and living together, learning how to hold onto your dreams, do the chores, and be there for your partner. It seems all couples have the same challenges, whether straight or gay. Who’d have thought?

Nominated for 16 Emmys and made via crowdfunding, the first series debuted on YouTube. The two leads are cute; Kit Williamson (who also wrote it) and Van Hansis as Cal and Thom. An easy, and worthwhile, binge. (32 episodes)
