Ian Manuel has been a firm favourite on the DNA website over the last year, modelling underwear and swimwear for some leading brands. So, naturally, he made it into our Sexiest Men Alive list, but it still came as a surprise to Ian.

“I feel quite lucky,” he told DNA. “I’m very humble, I would never have expected to be featured in a magazine on a list of the Sexiest Men. I find it quite exciting. It feels like everything that I’ve done in my life until now has paid off.”

Ian has devoted much of his life to fitness training and has been competing in men’s physique competitions since he was 15.

“The gym is my main occupation when I’m not modelling. I also love dancing. I have Cuban heritage so the rhythm is in my blood. I have a summer house on the beach; I like to go there to relax. The sea is like a medicine, I love to go there and do nothing, just swim and sunbathe.”

When we asked Ian who he would pick for the Sexiest Man Alive he nominated someone who is already on the list this year – his best friend, Andrés Gaspar.

“I don’t know who should be on the list but I know he is and, as we are real best friends, being in the same issue together is insane. All thanks to our photographer, Adrian C Martin.

So, what qualities does Ian think make someone sexy?

“Attitude is the key for me. A cool attitude that hypnotizes you,” he says. “The physical is very important but it’s a tool that is useless if there’s no one behind the wheel.”
