Springfest is coming to Wellington
THE final touches are being done for the annual Wellington Springfest 2017 which will be held over the weekend Friday to Sunday, September 22 to 24, and includes the biggest town parade yet!
The celebrations are set to kick off on the Friday night with music by local artists such as The Wellington Roof Band who will take to the stage at the Wellington Soldiers Memorial Club from 6pm, delivering performances that are sure to get you grooving.
Saturday morning, Wellington will welcome locals and visitors who traditionally flock into town to get a glimpse at the much anticipated parade.
This year’s parades’ theme is ‘Bicentenary of Wellington’ and participants are invited to dress in period costume, making it a show stopper of an event replicating the early days of Wellington.
The town band, gophers, the Fowler Steam engine and incredible floats will bring the town alive for it’s 200th birthday.
After the parade locals can enjoy a relaxing morning at the markets with foods, crafts, a petting zoo and mini train rides and many other activates on offer for the family to enjoy. Other events for the weekend include the Springfest 70km cycle classic, floral displays, busking competitions, and a free family movie night in Cameron Park before celebrations draw to an end with a lunch time roast at Griffo’s Burrendong Hotel on Sunday afternoon.
