DUBBO Regional Council’s road safety officer Jayne Bleechmore has said that although the ‘Free Cuppa for the Driver’ campaign finished in May, drivers should continue strategies to avoid driver fatigue.

These include taking breaks on long distance trips at driver rest areas, cafés or Driver Reviver sites, share driving, sleep well the night before, avoid night driving or long drives after work and check medication will not affect driving.

Stop in a safe spot or rest area and have a 20 minute nap if early signs of fatigue such as yawning, restlessness, heavy eyes or poor concentration are noticed.
